Alcove Gardens

The belief that spirit and matter are interconnected, known as animism in indigenous cultures, is so widespread and accepted that many do not even have a term for it. It is a fundamental concept that is often taken for granted.

We start to realise how there is a constant dynamism going on between waking and dreaming, seen and unseen, ordinary and holy, if we learn to listen to and converse with that range of voices. Humans are designed to draw their signals from their inner lives, not the other way around, like a tree whose roots are concealed in the lush darkness of the earth.

We all have our differences but we are all united by our reliance upon the earth and our earth’s reliance upon us. In a fast-paced world, our longing for connectivity has increased and the need for third spaces outside our routines are felt strongly.

Island Apothecary is a brand that stands rooted in its unwavering commitment to clean beauty, balance, and total wellness. Our brand represents more than just a collection of products – it’s a way of life, a philosophy that nurtures and cares for the whole being. With the dawning of the new year, we come full circle and examine themes of connection, belonging, and returning to the way—drawing us into our origins.

We are fortunate to have had the chance to resist conventional business wisdom and use our success as a force for good, leveraging our platform to encourage positive change and give back to the community.

After a few travels searching for the perfect location, we found the dream space and team to embark on the next steps synonymous with our brand – empowering communities through a spirit of gathering, creativity and sustainability.

We are thrilled to announce the launch of Alcove Gardens, a sustainable project that we have been working on in partnership with the Meedhoo Ekuveringe Cheynu NGO. The organisation is made up of a group of exceptionally strong and determined women who have overcome challenges and are dedicated to supporting and safeguarding their community. Their passion, enthusiasm, and energy are truly dynamic.

The collaboration between Island Apothecary and Ekuveringe Cheynu has been so seamless that we felt it was fitting to create a name for our new project, Alcove Gardens, that reflects this union. By combining the A from Island Apothecary and the C from Cheynu, we are left with the word LOVE, which is at the heart of everything we do.

At Alcove Gardens, we are committed to offering a range of metaphysical products that harness the healing properties of our blooming, sustainable gardens. Not only does our work provide opportunities for female artisans, but we are dedicated to continuing and honouring this mission.

When we begin the bright next cycle of 2023, we encourage our beloved clients to embrace the elixir of abundance within. If we have strayed from our authentic selves, it is important to take a step back, reflect on our actions, and reconnect with our true nature. This process, described by the ancient Chinese philosopher Zhou Dunyi as a “slow return to original sincerity,” involves returning to the roots of our character and rediscovering our authenticity. It is a journey of self-discovery and reconnection; both within the self and with others in our community.

Our hearts are filled with gratitude for our cherished clients, who have stood by us and encouraged us to evolve as a brand. We stand by our ethos of formulating products and services with traceable ingredients that work to balance the delicate energy centres of the body. As we weave through the shifting patterns of life, we are committed to imbuing each step forward with a sense of clarity and inspiration to serve you better with strength and purpose.

Helen Keller once said, “Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much.”

We send you LOVE and LIGHT, for an auspicious New Year 2023.
